Windows 2003 ts cal price

Thanks NetMan, More questions: 1. Once changed over to Application mode, what happens to the 2 built-in licenses? I was told by the software vendor that i can "downgrade" automatically from installing the TS CAL. Do you know if this is true? Many thanks! Technically, there are no "built-in" licenses when running in Remote Administration mode as it is really just remote desktop service that allows 2 simultaneous connections and in fact you can only login if you are administrator or in the administrators group.

I don't know the answer to the question about using Server licenses. Thanks NetMan! I installed my licenses and they work great!

I need some helps in the area of terminal services in win server R2 for Remote Desktop Connection. A terminal server refers to a network device or server allowing simultaneous connections to a number of client systems. This connects every system to an LAN network sans network interface or modem. Microsoft invented the mechanism, but many software firms use it now.

Use a terminal server to host applications and files on a central access point, so users may use them and publish new items from any location using any operating system. They also provide a single maintenance point, including for software installation and updates. A client access license provides a legally binding document between the software creator and the organization or user allowing the use of the software.

The 'client' in CAL refers to the device connecting to the server. The 'access' refers to allowing them to legally connect to the server which uses the software the license represents to access and provide the apps on the server and files stored to it to users.

Using concurrent licenses rather than per-device licenses provides more efficient fiscal and management solution. Skip to main content. Shop by Category. Through that can I have up to 6 people connected and working off of the 2k3 small business server? This is a change from Small Business Server Running Terminal Services in Application Server mode on a domain controller may present a security risk to your network.

If you want to use Terminal Services in Application Server mode, we recommend that you purchase an additional Windows Server license and install an additional server running Windows Server into the Windows Small Business Server domain. So if I have a 5 CAL on the win2k3 sbs and do a seperate installation will it allow me to install terminal services?

If terminal services is all I will be running is there a way I can reinstall the OS to be configured to let me install and use TS, make the machine other than a domain server?
