Thanks for your feedback. Thanks for the suggestions. I tried the Windows Firewall Diagnostics using the link provided. They failed to fix the problem. I went to the guide, read the whole document but was uncomfortable downloading the "Windows Repair All In One " software that looked promising to address my issue.
I probably would have done that if I hadn't found a fix elsewhere. The following instructions fixed the issue. The Windows Firewall is now working again. For others who may want to use this fix but don't want to, or can't get to the site, here are the same instructions I take no credit for developing them, just passing them along. Double-click the Windows Firewall icon from the list displayed.
You will be asked if you wish to restart the Windows Firewall service. Select "Yes. I seem to recall similar instructions in a different thread in this forum, but when I completed the rundll I suspect I typed the command incorrectly since I don't recall entering a comma in the string. When I entered the command as listed above, there was no error, and after a couple of seconds the command prompt reappeared as expected.
